SKU: 2023 BARREL FERMENTED CHARDONNAY

Fermented and aged in new French Oak barrels for ten months, this high quality Chardonnay has a wonderful balance of fruit, oak, and a buttery mouth-feel. Pairing suggestions include grilled salmon, roasted chicken, lobster, and creamy pastas.

Winemaker's Notes: This wine still retains bright Chardonnay fruit characterized by a melody of Macintosh apple and honeydew melon, yet it hasn't lost its crisp acidity on the palate while being laced with the creamy texture of aging in barrels for 10 months.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Fermented and aged in new French Oak barrels for 10 months, this high quality Chardonnay has a wonderful balance of fruit, oak, and a buttery mouth-feel.
Vineyard Notes
North Unity is one of our southern most vineyards, between Lime Lake and Little Traverse Lake. Norah's Vineyard was originally a cherry orchard that was replanted in 2009.
Production Notes
We try to build the palette on this wine through constant lees contact and a secondary fermentation that softens the acid. The wine is stirred frequently through the first few months before tapering off to let it age in peace.
Winemaker Notes
The fruit for this wine is selected from vineyards that have the desired clone of Chardonnay and show to be advanced in their trajectory for ripening that vintage. The clone is a Dijon clone, 96. It retains a moderate amount of acidity while ripening well by the back half of the season.
Food Pairing Notes
Due to the boldness, this Barrel-Fermented Chardonnay pairs well seafood, grilled salmon, roasted chicken, lobster, and creamy pastas. If you are a vegetarian, try rich or starchy vegetables like corn, pumpkin, or squash.
