Vineyard Notes
This is my favorite vineyard of ours. Simply because I was able to see it come to shape all the varieties from the beginning. It's filled with varieties that are exciting and will shape Michigan countries future. This vineyard sits high up on a plateau overlooking the Manitou islands. The layout and design are in keeping with our most progressive techniques. The location and shape of the land will allow even the most difficult varieties to fully develop regardless of the vintage's challenges.
Production Notes
Upon harvesting this wine, we decided to gamble and go for a maximization of varietal character. To do this we crush the fruit and let the juice soak in the skins in an anoxic environment for an extended period of time. This also helps to load the juice with precursors of pleasant aromatic compounds.
Winemaker Notes
Sauvignon blanc is both a nightmare and a dream to make. It requires painstaking decision making and always leaves you second guessing. The reason for this is the uniqueness of its aromatics. The aromatic complex of Sauvignon Blanc is situated in a family that has both beautiful characteristics and very off putting ones. While making this wine we see both sides of this. It's our job to trust our instincts and drive this wine where it needs to be.
Food Pairing Notes
Sauvignon Blanc makes the perfect companion to herb-driven sauces over chicken, tofu, or fish. It also matches well with herb-driven Asian flavors like Thai or Vietnamese cuisine.

The only Sauvignon Blanc that I have bought that was not grown in New Zealand.

My husband and I love this Sauv Blanc. It is very citrusy and refreshing. Perfect Summer wine!
